Great turnout for Open House

It was an amazing turnout today for open house. After a very slow start (probably because it was at 7:00 am), things really picked up and the school was filled with excited children, parents, and teachers. It was great seeing our new kindergarten students getting their yellow Kindergarten shirt. It was also neat seeing so many faces that I have been missing for the past two months. What was really neat was our new Pre-Kindergarten students coming into a school for the first time to meet their teachers. The students were very excited and the parents were a little nervous! What a great way to start a new year.

Just a little update to our numbers:
2 Pre-K classes
6 Kindergarten classes
5 First Grade Classes
4 Second Grade Classes
5 Third Grade Classes
5 Fourth Grade Classes
4 Fifth Grade Classes
4 Special Needs Classes

All totaling 694 students on roll.

Please don't forget that the first day of school is Monday, August 2nd. We will be having parent meetings on Tuesday, August 3rd at 9:00am and 6:00pm and again on Wednesday, August 4th in Spanish at the same time. This is a great opportunity for parents to learn what is going on at KES and how they can help. Look forward to seeing you there!

Great to be Back!

I know that most of you are probably starting to see the first "Back to School" fliers or commercials and are thinking, "How can the summer almost be over already, we just got out!" I know that it is hard to believe that we have only 20 days until the kids come back to school and only 14 days until the teachers need to report back to school. The summer really does fly by! It is hard to believe, but I really am excited about the fact that school is just around the corner. As much as I like being at the school by myself planning the year; it is just not the same without the teachers and students. That is what a school is all about! I look forward to getting everyone back in 20 days!

Happy July!

Oh my, it is already July 11th and I have not posted anything this month. I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th. We have been closed since the 2nd and I have not done much principal stuff since then. I will really get back into it tomorrow though since we only have 2 weeks until the teachers come back and only 3 for the kids. This summer has gone by very quickly. We have got a lot of great things planned for the 2010-2011 school year. We are going to be Ready Respectful and Responsible and we will also have a S.W.A.G.er to us! I really can't wait!
