Summer Plans of a Principal

Many people ask, "What do you do all summer when there are no teachers or students at the school?" Well that is a good question. I would love to say that we take vacations and eat lunch out a lot, but that would not be the case. We spend most of our days finalizing class lists and schedules for the upcoming year, making contacts with our business partners so that we can set up dates for our calendar, as well as setting goals for our school for the upcoming year. It is very time consuming to plan an entire year for almost 600 students and 100 adults, but it is worth every second. I am blessed to work with great people that love kids and are dedicated to influencing the future of our country. That is why I look forward to the work of the summer. It allows us to reflect on what we did well (We did a lot of wonderful things in 08-09!) and what we could still improve upon in the previous school year, and then set a path for a "Remarkable" 09-10 school year. I am excited as I work during the summer because I know that Kennedy Elementary is on the right track, and that we are going to be "Remarkable" next year.

P.S. We do eat out a lot during the summer, and I will get to go on vacation in July. The best part though, is that I wear shorts almost every day!!!!!
